Applied Business Analytics
Project description : Provide background and contextual information. Define the analysis problem. Clearly identify project goals and deliverables. State the value this analysis will bring to your organization. Note that the analysis problem must be stated in terms of a product or result that can be accomplished using some form of descriptive, predictive, or prescriptive analytics, by the size of students listed in the course page, in the required number of weeks. Data Description: Provide information on the data you will share, including variables, type, granularity, time-period, number of records, and approximate total size in bytes. Provide information on how you will share this data, including mode of access, platforms, frequency, and format. Confirm that you will be able to provide access to this data by the required date.
Financial Business Plan
We are excited to be launching a new business, (name of business and brief description of what the company will do). With any launch, having a financial plan is one of the keys to success, and we would like to involve students in creating one for our new venture. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Learning about our business strategy from various employees to become familiar with our goals, mission, and products. Creating forecasts using Excel (or another financial software) for sales in the first year of operation as well as an income projection (conservative and aggressive). Working with our team to develop an expense budget. Conducting a break-even analysis timeline using financial projections. Reporting on projected assets and liabilities. Including visual comparisons such as graphs and charts to show the differences between the conservative and aggressive income projection.
Data Analysis Research
Our research lab publishes dozens of papers every year to promote projects in our field of research. Among these papers are studies detailing our lab’s findings from data analysis. We would like to collaborate with students to analyze our raw datasets. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarizing themselves with our project’s objectives and analysis procedures. Checking for and correcting inconsistencies in the dataset. Calculating important results and plotting data in graphs and charts. Performing relevant statistical tests to determine the significance of results. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Recommending future areas of study.
